KUNJANI - Where two cultures meet
Kunjani means ‘Hi, how are you?’ and that is exactly how friendships start!
Situated in the Bottelary Hills sub-route of Stellenbosch, Kunjani Wines boasts with its contemporary and soulful look where love and passion is evident. We don't have to imagine pairing world-class wines with scrumptious dishes, overlooking the panoramic views when we have Kunjani!
Right after level 2 was announced, I was fortunate to be invited for a weekend stay over at the luxurious Kunjani Villas. At this point, I think we have all felt some sort of suffocation from being indoors for over 5 months. This invitation could not have come at a better time. Welcomed by Paul Barth & Pia Watermeyer, husband-and-wife team and owners of Kunjani, they made sure we feel at home. After walking us through the contemporary yet sophisticated restaurant and tasting room, we stepped outside to experience the tranquility Kunjani has to offer. A chicken, bacon, avo, spinach, Chenin Blanc-soaked pizza on the deck paired with great conversations and laughter with Paul and Pia, I could not think of any better way to start the weekend.
I knew we were in for an unforgettable treat when we stepped into the luxurious Merlot Villa where we will be spending the weekend. A Local Artisinal Cheese Platter for 2 with a complementary bottle of the renowned Kunjani Shiraz 2015 awaited in the villa. A spacious one bedroom with a double bed which can be converted to twin beds, an en suite bathroom, dining nook for 3 guests and wall panel heating & air conditioning provides all the comfort you need.

There was nothing more the kitchen needed as it comes with all modern appliances and comfortable lounge with a smart television. A private veranda with barbeque facilities when you open the double doors to the beautiful Winelands views.

Lunch reservation was for Saturday and ofcourse I opted for the perfect Red Wine Oven Roasted Lamb Shank served with mashed potato and seasonal vegetables (any dish that has a little hint of wine in... I'm sold). What an honor it was to meet Chef Lamek Mnisi. In line with his philosophy to only source seasonal ingredients and the very best fresh produce, Lamek has streamlined the menus to reflect his passion for locally sourced, fresh, wholesome and healthier food options that are also sustainable. You can taste the passion and love in the carefully curated dishes. Nothing is compromised.
The traditional Malva Pudding Served with Amarula Crème Anglaise, coffee ice cream was nothing but extraordinary. I was really chuffed.
Waking up to the sound of rain on Sunday morning, we decided to order in. A perfect 3-Egg Omellette (Cheese, bacon, mushrooms, tomato & home baked bread). This breakfast really made us wanting to extend our stay!
